The Jewellery, Giftware and Surface Engineering trades partied in style at last year’s Jewellery & Giftware Ball held at the Clarendon Suites in Birmingham. This year the ball also included the British Jewellers Association Awards Ceremony.
The organisers, the Jewellery Giftware & Finishing Federation Benevolent Society, aim to provide an elegant but relaxed evening with delicious food and fine wines, good company and conversation, which was indeed the case. Guests graced the concourse whilst they sipped champagne sponsored by the National Exhibition Centre and enjoyed delicious food and fine wine in the Clarendon Suite – until the band started to play, when the whole place started to rock!
Attendance was greater than the year before and the organisers were delighted to welcome 'first time' attendees and of course regular and valued sponsors - without whom the event would not be possible.
There is a serious side to the Ball, of course, which is to raise funds for those who used to work in the jewellery, giftware, luggage and accessories and surface engineering trades.
Chairman, David Simons, “I am absolutely delighted that we raised over £20,000 and saw several new faces, some of whom have already booked tables for next year.
On behalf of the Ball Committee, I would like to take this opportunity of thanking all our sponsors and guests for their continued generosity. This has been a difficult year for many so their support is all the more appreciated."
